Machakos University students on monday demonstrated over the rise in insecurity on the campus. A student was allegedly killed by robbers on sunday night. 

The students urged the university management to guarantee them security as this had gotten out of hand.

Drama erupted at the Kisumu County Government offices on Monday morning after a group of youth stormed the premises, demanding facilitation to attend the swearing in of NASA leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka on Tuesday, January 29. Citizen TV has reported.

The agitated group claimed ODM supporters from other surrounding sub-counties had already been facilitated to attend the event set to take place at Uhuru Park Grounds in Nairobi, yet Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o had “not looked into their welfare”.

Kisumu County Assembly Majority Leader Kennedy Onyango was accosted by the youth at county offices and had to part with money to be used in hiring a bus to ferry the youth to Nairobi.

Police Arrest Prezzos Relatives

Police have allegedly arrested and detained Boy-Childs' president - Cyprian Nyakundi relatives, the blogger claims so through his telegram channel.
 Nyakundi has been under the search for allegedly defaming a senior CS in the government, something he's attributing to his tribulations.He alleges that police , who have failed to trace him for charges he knows nothing about, have resorted to holding his relatives at ransom until he is found.

They have also towed his vehicle (a toyota mark X) to the station demanding that its a stolen property and that he should personally go and collect it from the station with its documentation.

 BREAKING: STATEMENT BY CYPRIAN NYAKUNDI 

On Sunday 28th January 2018, 22 Police Officers drawn from the Special Crimes Prevention Unit stormed an apartment resided by relatives of blogger Cyprian Nyakundi. Despite their vehement denials, Police are still actively pursuing the blogger, over a series of articles posted on his blog. 

The 22 officers proceeded to brutally assault the relatives of Cyprian Nyakundi, whilst demanding to know his whereabouts. Using torture and intimidation reminiscent of the Moi-era, the police even used their guns to physically-assault the innocent victims. 

The officers then proceeded to arrest the 5 individuals, who are currently locked up at the Kamukunji Police Station. 

Over and above the assault and torture, the police then took a vehicle which they have identified as being owned by Cyprian Nyakundi, a black Toyota Mark X, and drove it to the Nairobi Area Police Station under the guise that it has been reported as stolen, and that Mr. Nyakundi himself must go and collect it with its ownership documents. 

The house was also ransacked with the police officers carrying away all their gadgets including cellphones and computers. 

The ordeal lasted close to 2 hours, as the police had cordoned off the entire neighbourhood. Ordinary passers-by were even denied use of the road leading to the residential area. 

As that was happening, the website CNyakundi. com faced multiple attacks, forcing our hosts to temporarily suspend it, pending further security upgrades. 

It is surely a dark day for Kenya, if relatives can be tortured in-order to reveal someone's whereabouts, even when they may not be privy to them. Using a vehicle as bait to lure Nyakundi to the Police is also a new low, for a service that has been seeking public support in their bid to reform. 

The flagrant abuse of people’s constitutional rights is wrong and must be condemned. It appears that the gains touted by the establishment, are just a facade, and that we are firmly rooted in the ideals of dictatorship. 

If such resources were deployed to fight crime, arrest terrorists and the corrupt individuals who’ve plundered our taxes denying Kenyans opportunities, then we would respect the police. But using massive resources to hunt down a blogger, is an abuse of state-resources. 

Cyprian Nyakundi hereby condemns the Special Crimes Prevention Unit, for being misused as someone’s private property. It's these acts that make the public lose trust in the Police Service as a whole. 

Cyprian Nyakundi now calls for the unconditional release of his relatives, held at the Kamukunji Police Station, and an end to state-sponsored harassment.

However, some cunning people online play around with peoples accounts and make tweets look original from verified accounts.

The Nyali M.P Mohammed Ali has become the latest victim to this as a screenshot purpoting to show him(from his verified twitter account) bashing Mombasa governor (Ali Joho) and NASA leader Raila Odinga surfaced online.
In the purpoted tweet, Ali pronounces the political death of Raila Odinga. He goes on to tell NASA supporters that there will be no swearing in as the legit president has already been sworn in.

However, in a tweet captioning the screenshot, the legislator has come out to refute the claims as false and malicious

Stop Recruitment of Deputy IG - Raila Odinga

NASA leader, Raila Odinga, has come out stern on the scheduled recruitment of Deputy Inspector General of police.

Raila claims the planned exercise is just but a formality.

From the statement posted in NASAs official channel, Odinga alleges that the state has appointed their stooges to take over the police service and turned it into a state machinery.

Here is that statement by Raila Odinga :-

  "PRESS STATEMENT 

JANUARY 17, 2018. 

NATIONAL POLICE SERVICE COMMISSION MUST RE-ADVERTISE DEPUTY IG POSITIONS: 

Reports appearing in sections of the media indicate that senior police officers, who would have been expected to apply for the positions of Deputy Inspector General at the National Police Service Commission have not done so and that only nine put in their applications. 

This is an indictment of the National Police Service Commission and the process of filling the positions left vacant when Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta unprocedurally sacked the holders of those offices and proceeded to appoint replacements in acting capacity. 

The National Police Service proceeded to advertise the vacancies giving only three days for interested individuals to submit applications and not the stipulated minimum 14 day notice. 

From the start, there were signals to potential applicants that it would be an exercise in futility meant to rubber-stamp illegal appointments. The procedures were twisted from the start such that instead of the National Police Service sacking the former employees, it is Mr. Kenyatta who did. 

From the start, it was not clear why the officers were sacked and why they were being re-deployed in the Public Service instead of the Police Service. 

Police is a critical institution in the country and one that is crying for reforms. Recent developments show the cavalier attitude with which it is being managed, with the presidency breaking rules to create a force that can be used to service the regime against the people. The National Police Commission is colluding with the presidency to create an institution that serves the regime rather than the people. 

It is our position that the Police is too critical an institution to be constituted and disbanded according to the whims of an individual. We demand that the National Police Service cancels the process of recruiting the deputy IGs and re-advertise the positions, spelling out the qualifications to be met. The applicants must be given the required 14 days minimum period within which to apply. We totally object to the intentions of Jubilee to turn the Police into a rag tag militia ready to be used by individual leaders against citizens.  The era of hiring and firing via radio and TV must not be allowed back into public service.

Just as reported by the star, senior police officers in both the Administration and Kenya Police departments have kept off the positions of Deputy Inspector General for fear of "President's men."

A majority of the senior officers did not apply for the vacant positions, despite an advertisement by the National Police Service Commission calling for applications.

The application deadline elapsed on Monday. the NPSC had also called for applications to the position of the director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

Sources within the National Police Service said the decision by senior officers not to apply for the positions was an indication that they were certain the recruitment exercise would be formality.

ALL 2017 KCSE candidates who scored a C+ of 46 points and above will join public and private universities, KUCCPS CEO John Muraguri has said.
The students will be sponsored by the government to join both public and private universities.
Students who qualify have been urged to undertake the second revision of degree courses by 30th January 2018.
There was a huge drop in the number of KCSE students who met the C+, the minimum grade required to join University.
At the same time, KNEC CEO Prof George Mahoga on Wednesday announced a total of 1205 students across nine schools had their results cancelled after extensive investigations.

Manchester United's imminent capture of Alexis Sanchez is a huge victory for Jose Mourinho in his battle to match the spending of his immediate rivals.

"The problem is not the money we invest, the problem is the money the others invest," said Mourinho. "And it’s the problem that others with better squads, with better stability, with more options - they keep investing."

That message resonated with Woodward and the United hierarchy to the extent they put an exorbitant financial package of around £100m in place to blindside City and hijack their move for Arsenal star Sanchez, who is out of contract in six months.

Since Mourinho and Guardiola took over at United and City respectively in the summer of 2016, the former has overseen a gross spend on players of £286m. Guardiola. Meanwhile, has spent £387m, endorsing Mourinho’s belief that United need to match that financial outlay to have any chance of keeping pace with City.

Woodward, and the Glazer family who control the purse strings, have always insisted the money is there for Mourinho to spend on the players he wants, with the £89m and £75m outlays on Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku respectively proof of that commitment to spending big in the market.

But City and Paris Saint-Germain have begun spending on a new scale. Mourinho told Woodward and the United board they had to keep pace with this shift in the market, which is why they made their move for Sanchez and committed so much money towards landing him in a month when they are traditionally reluctant to do business.

While City claimed the figures required to land Sanchez this month were prohibitive in terms of the overall cost, United see the estimated £100m outlay – including the £35m transfer fee, signing-on fee, agent’s fee and the player’s wages – as a decent deal, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, valued at a similar fee, going the other way.

Alexis Sanchez - PERFECT FIT INTO UNITED SQUAD

Chilean striker, Alexis Sanchez, is headed for the 'Theatre of Dreams' Old Trafford. How perfect he suits in the existing squad has been subject to commentaries. We havent been left behind either.

Where would he line up?

Sanchez is able to play anywhere across the front line, but the most logical place for him in Jose Mourinho's 4-2-3-1 formation would be on the left, where the United manager has rotated between Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford this season. 

It's the position in which Sanchez has played for most of his career. It allows him to isolate defenders in one-on-one situations and cut inside onto his favoured right foot.

Mourinho likes his teams to defend compactly and destroy teams on the counter-attack. 

Sanchez is not known for the kind of defensive discipline Mourinho usually asks from his wide players, but he is rarely found wanting for commitment or work-rate and Mourinho would be confident that the Chilean could fulfil his demands. Sanchez's off-the-ball industry is coupled with the kind of winning mentality Mourinho craves, and he also offers outstanding pace and penetration on the counter-attack.

How do his stats compare?

The current campaign has been Sanchez's least effective yet in terms of goals and assists in the Premier League. But Mourinho would be confident of helping Sanchez rediscover his best form. Last season, the Chilean scored 24 times and added 10 assists in 38 Premier League appearances, giving him the third highest combined total in the division behind Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku. The likes of Rashford and Martial have never come close to those numbers.

Could he get Lukaku firing?

Aside from Sanchez's goals, his biggest appeal to Mourinho might be the service he could provide for Lukaku. The Belgian made an outstanding start to life at Old Trafford, scoring 11 goals in his first 10 games, but he has only netted six in 21 since then. That's likely to change if he lines up with Sanchez. The Chilean has created 183 chances from open play over the last three seasons. Only Mesut Ozil and Christian Eriksen have created more. Lukaku would relish that kind of service.

Days after signing for Kakamega County sponsored Western Stima FC, Wanga has been appointed Kakamega County Sports Director. His new position will see him oversee and manage the development of sports in the County.
He will also play for Kakamega Homeboyz in KPL.
Wanga has played for several clubs in and outside Kenya including Tusker FC, AFC Leopards, Azam FC (Tanzania).
Speaking to Capital sport, Wanga is excited at his new role.

“I am very happy and feel privileged to land this role at the County. It is an honor for me and comes in the line in which I am very passionate about. It has always been my ambition to serve my community and this is a great chance for me,”

Wanga told Capital Sport.
“We met with the Governor (Wycliffe Oparanya) sometimes last month where we had these discussions and I could not decline the offer. Hopefully I will use my experience and passion to help grow sports in this county,” he added.
